No one can really prepare you for the big day of babies arrival. You create a registry, have a baby shower, assemble all your baby must haves for your nursery, you get unwanted advice from other mothers, and you go to the birthing classes.
But nothing and I mean nothing can ever really prepare you for that BIG day....
I created a registry, which I will have you know, I did let my fellow friends whowere mothers take a look. Some have really good advice, helped you out with things you never really thought of, and well others left you confused on what you really need and don't need. (I'll go through what I bought and what I actually used in a later blog.)
I had a baby shower. And anyone who knows me, knows I hate those silly shower games. So my shower consisted of making baby girl headbands and onesies! Sooo much fun. And let me tell you my guests absolutely loved the activities.
I ended up with sooo many great gifts for my baby girl. In fact, I had soooo many things I wasn't sure how they'd all fit in our tiny townhouse.
We went to the child birthing classes. Which personally after having her, I'm not really sure they were all that helpful. I did learn a lot about babies I didn't know.
The night before (which was actually my babies due date) I went to the hospital I think I had like a feeling it was going to happen the next day. I was scheduled to be induced in fact that following Monday. After I worked that night, I washed her clothes, painted my toe nails, cut my own hair (yes, I actually did), and made sure my hospital bag was ready. I went to bed about 10:30. Two hours later I woke up having stomach pains and was soon experiencing contractions. My husband called my Doctor and I was trying to count how many minutes apart my contractions were. We ended up arriving to the hospital at about 3:30am. Right away they admitted me and I had my own hospital room. My contractions were very painful. All I remember is looking at my husband and well saying curse words. I tried laying down and walking around. I tried breathing. After several long hours, they gave me an epidural. Which helped releave a lot of pain. I didn't start pushing till about 5pm. After 3 and a half hours of pushing (which felt like forever because I was soooo exhausted from only getting a few hours of sleep) my baby girl finally arrived. I'll always remember that moment as if it was yesterday.
